Abstract:
This work plan describes the purpose of the priority setting study for the National Agricultural Research System in Bangladesh, the need for the study, the objectives of the study, the method to be used the people involved, the tasks to be completed, the list of data and information required, the time frame for the study, the outline of the report, follow-up to the study and a projected budget. Appendices to the plan describe in detail how to complete the study tasks, provide headings for the tables to be filled in during the study and terms of reference for task force members. Priorities will be analyzed by commodity and broad research area at the national and institute levels to provide guidance for future annual planning and for longer term human resource and facilities planning. The economic surplus and scoring approaches will be combined in the study. A task force will conduct and oversee the analysis which involves the following basic steps: Defining and weighting objectives for the research system, collecting published data, describing the market situation and government policies for each commodity, inter viweing researchers and extension workers, data processing, report writing, and discussion and refinements of the study. The study will be conducted during a six month period of time.
