Abstract:
Bangladesh is a flood prone country. Almost every year country is affected by flood. In some year it becomes so serious that it causes a heavy toll to human lives and other living creatures including physical resources and properties. Nobody knows how the farmers would cope with the situation when they failed to produce rice seedlings and transplant aman rice even by mid-September. Again, if there is drought after flood farmers would be affected in double frequency that would fuel to the fire for the farmers. However, no systematic investigation has so far been conducted in Bangladesh in determining the farmers practice of indigenous techniques/technologies in the flood affected areas to cope with the situation. But if is a very important aspect of research since there is every chances of occurrences of flood in Bangladesh frequently. If the TK used by the farmers after flood and also during drought can be identified and documented through a nation-wide research study, that could be effectively used and utilized as recommendations for policy implications as post-flood and drought-time agricultural operations.
The objective of the proposed work is to find out the following facts:
To identify and make documentation of the indigenous technologies/techniques used by the farmers as post-flood practices in the field. To make an inventory and documentation of the indigenous technologies used by rural women in the homestead areas. Economic feasibilities of the post-flood cropping pattern.
