dc.description.abstract The project area covered Chittagong coastal plain. The Agro-ecological Zone occupies the plain land in greater Chittagong district and the eastern part of Feni district. Twenty five sites were selected from coastal saline area of Chittagong and Cox's Zazar district to characterize the physico-chemical properties. There were 11 sites in the Chittagong district of which 5 sites were in Miresharai and 6 sites wer in Sandwip Upazilla. In Cox's Bazar district there were 5 sites in Kutubdia, 4 sites in Chokoria, 2 sites each in Teknaf and Cox's Bazar and 1 site in Moheskhali Upazilla. The usual texture of the soils of the Chittagong district were loam to clay loam and that of Cox's Bazar district were clay in nature. The range of salinity of 0-15cm depth soil varied from 0.80-12.80 dSm-1 in Miresharai and 1.78-12.80 dSm-1 in the Sandwip sites of Chittagong district. en_US
