dc.description.abstract The project conducted a survey at the beginning through PRA and collected numerous information regarding crops, Crop yield, soil fertility, farmer's practice, problems, flood, flooding depth both at Charkarimpur, Narsingdi and at Charvedoria, Bhola. Charkarimpur is under AEZ 16-'Middle Meghna River Floodplain' and Charvedoria is under AEZ-18 'Young Megha Estuarine Floodplain'. Soils of Charvedoria is relatively younger than the soils of Charkarimpur. But both the soils have been developed by river erosion and sediments. On the basis of those information a large number of experiments were conducted on a) soil, crop, fertilizer management b) soil land stabilization and c) soil and soil fertility improvement. Analyses of soils reveal that the moisture holding capacity of soil is very low due to very high sand content (60%-70%). Organic matter level is low (1.0-1.5%) and over all fertility level may be termed as poor. Fertilizer management studies resulted in selection of potential charland crops with their promising fertilizer recombination for increased yield and biomass production en_US
