dc.description.abstract Bangladesh Forest Research Institute, Chittagong and Institute of Forestry and environmental Sciences, Chittagong University, Chittagong implemented the Contract Research Project ''Floristic Diversity, Growth Statistics and Indigenous Management Techniques of Traditional Homegardens in Bangladesh'' The project was started in April, 1988 and completed in March 2001. It had three components namely Floristic Composition and Diversity Assessment: Growth Statistics and Indigenous Management Techniques. The project was undertaken with the objectives to assess the floristic composition and species of tress from home gardens, size/age class distribution of species, determine growth data for five dominant species and prepare volume tables for five dominant species, assess farmers' knowledge about home garden systems and their management strategies in maintaining such patterns; and to recommend strategies for the improvement of the traditional homegardens production systems. en_US
