Assessment of research programmes and recommendations for improving production potential in the Jamalpur area

Abstract

According to his terms of reference the consultant's main assignment was at RARS Jamalpur, with responsibility for research and extension. A short appraisal of the region, its climate and crop production is therefore included in this report. Most of the information in this appraisal was obtained from the Statistical Yearbook and the Agricultural Yearbook of Bangladesh 1982. Develop the skill in identifying cropping patterns, their characteristics and the crops in the pattern. Identify practices and crop components that will improve the farmer's cropping pattern. Develop the skill in growing the crops both as a monocrop and in a pattern using the recommended practices for increased production. Carry out the objectives of the Extension and Research Project.
