Resume of Activities of Farming Systems Technical Working Group

Abstract

To develop environment specific cropping systems technology in order to increase yield per unit area, cropping intensity, farm incomes, and improve the quality of life of small farmers. To establish a national cropping systems network of test sites in Bangladesh, which will provide different crop research institutions with a mechanism for joint programme planning and review of cropping systems research and development activities in different agro-ecological zones. To establish cropping systems research of strengthen on-going research of different crop oriented research institutions. To provide the government with a series of data points on cropping systems potential in various ecological zones for undertaking large-scale agricultural development programme. To provide a mechanism for better coordination among crop research institutions in developing suitable technology. To provide training opportunities in order to upgrade the technical capabilities of the cropping systems research staff of different research institutions.
