dc.description.abstract The Objective as envisaged in the project is for carrying out scientific and technological research on jute and jute products, to improve conventional jute projects and to develop diversified jute products for increasing their export potentials. These were broken into following 15 defined objectives/projects: 1. Finding new uses of Jute. 2. Spinning of finer and regular yarn upto 2-3 Ibs, per spindle. 3. Softening of Jute cuttings. 4. Reducing the manufacturing cost of jute products by using more inferior jute fibres. 5. Checking of photo chemical degradation of dyed and undyed jute products. 6. Improvement of dye-fastness, washability, wearability of jute products. 7. Development of better bleaching, dyeing and printing methods for jute products. 8. Improvement of technical quality of jute fibre by chemical modification. 9. Development of better finishing methods for jute products to improve their serviceability. 10. Development and production of wall decoration cloth, novocel yarns, novotex fabrics, novocel blankets, etc. en_US
