Contract research project on germplasm evaluation, production and storage technology of jackfruit

Abstract

The study on floral biology, pollination and fruit development has provided basic scientific information related to the productivity of the crop . Data on duration from spike opening to anthesis, availability of pollen grains on the male spike, receptivity of stigma, time of anther and stigma emergence, sex ratio etc. are valuable information for pollination and fruit development. Manipulating the knowledge, the productivity of the crop may be increased .Fruit deformity and fruit drops are problems in jackfruit orchard. The results on this aspect will provide some guidelines for further work.
