dc.description.abstract Sun dried fishes are the dominant product in Bangladesh fish processing industry. Several preliminary surveys such as: year wise export, principal pest and insects infesting during processing and storage of dried fish, species available in the market and processing areas of dry fish in the country have been conducted. Sun dried fish from different sources were collected and studied for detection and quantification of pesticide residues. Gas chromatographic determination was used to analyze the extract by using two type of columns and confirmed by TLC. 14C DDT was used to check the efficiency of the method, which gave the recovery of 70-90 percent. As initial work, samples of different sources have been analyzed. Samples investigated were found to be contaminated with DDT and its metabolites. Concentration of pesticide residue detected was found to be below the FAO/IAEA/WHO recommended MRL value. en_US
